Frequently asked questions
Everything about Full House membership and how following works. Don’t see your question? Get in touch.
Theater Room 7 is free to use and free to follow 2 taste-makers. Full House ($1.99/mo or $9.99/yr) unlocks 7. Following only goes one direction, like Letterboxd instead of Instagram, so you can follow anyone whose taste you trust and they’re never notified or shown that you did.
Membership
Is Theater Room 7 free?
Yes. Downloading the app, building a profile, and following taste-makers is free. The free tier lets you follow up to 2 people, and Full House removes that cap.
What does Full House get me?
Room to follow more of the people whose taste you actually trust: up to 7 taste-makers instead of 2. Everything else about the app works the same either way.
Why does the free tier only let me follow 2 people?
Theater Room 7 isn’t built to maximize how many people you follow. It’s built around a small circle of people whose taste you’d actually take a recommendation from, and two is enough to feel that out. Full House is for people who already know exactly who those 7 are: family, close friends, the coworker with impeccable taste.
What’s the difference between monthly and yearly?
Full House is $1.99/month or $9.99/year. The yearly plan works out to a little over $0.80/month, roughly the price of 5 months for a full year.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions are managed entirely through your Apple ID, so you can cancel whenever you’d like from Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep Full House through the end of the period you already paid for.
Following
How does following work on Theater Room 7?
Following is one-directional. You choose your Inner Circle (family, close friends, the coworker with impeccable taste) and nobody has to follow you back for it to work. It’s closer to how following works on Letterboxd than how “friending” works on Instagram.
If I follow someone, do they know?
No. There’s no notification, no request to accept, and it doesn’t show up in their activity. Following someone on Theater Room 7 just adds their picks to your feed. Nothing changes on their end.
Can I see who follows me?
No. Followers aren’t visible to other users anywhere in the app, and you’re never notified when someone follows you. You can only see who you follow, not who follows you.
Why isn’t following mutual, like it is on other apps?
Because a recommendation shouldn’t come with social obligation. On apps where following is expected to go both ways, who-follows-whom quietly turns into a popularity contest, and you end up following people back out of politeness instead of because you actually want their picks in your feed. Theater Room 7 skips all of that: follow whoever you’d genuinely take a recommendation from, with zero awkwardness about whether they’ll follow back.
Can I unfollow someone?
Anytime, from their profile. Like following, it’s quiet: there’s no notification when you unfollow someone either.
